The all-in-one workspace that takes up less work and less space.

Fast and enjoyable, Totem is the first app you want to open. And because it fits in just 0.1 GB RAM, it's the last app you need to close.

For teams & individuals — Mac, Windows, iOS.

TOTEM TAKES YOU
BEYOND TINKERING

Each time you wait for a page to load, for a change to sync, or for a connection to resume, you lose more than mere seconds.

You lose velocity.

For lean, fast-moving teams, that's the only competitive advantage that matters.

Totem eliminates the friction of modern tools. Native on every platform with a singular focus on keeping your team's documents and data instantly available, even offline. Once you've worked this way, everything else feels slow.

Your team is ready for the future.

Welcome to Totem.

WORK TOGETHER IN REAL TIME

LIVE SYNC

Live syncing that goes beyond just the editor. Spaces, collections, and permissions all sync instantly — plus, Totem seamlessly merges any work you did offline.

INTUITIVE ROLE-BASED ACCESS

PERMISSION CONTROL

Granular RBAC and collection-scoped tagging ensure your sensitive documents stay exactly where they belong.

ORGANIZE WITHOUT OVERTHINK

DEEP TAGGING

Nested tagging allows anyone to organize documents in an ad-hoc fashion. Tags are collection scoped, so they never clutter the whole workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Totem available today?

Totem is currently in early access. We are actively seeking design partners (if you are interested please book a demo), and early users are encouraged to use the self-serve sign up process available here to enjoy a free 14-day trial.

How does Totem compare to alternatives like Notion, Confluence, or Google Docs?

Totem is lightweight and fast, on every platform. An ops-log architecture (similar to Linear) coupled with the Rust programming language brings us closer to the metal, giving us several key advantages: instant startup, real offline support, and a fraction of the resource usage. For a detailed comparison, check out our versus brochure.

I have a question / feedback / request, how can I get in touch?

We'd love to hear from you. Reach out anytime at founders@totemkb.com or join the conversation in the Totem Forum.

Can I import / export my data in Totem? Is it secure?

Totem is backed by a custom format that enables live collaboration, which can be materialized as Markdown or SQLite files. While these files are locally available on whichever device has your Totem installation, we advise reaching out to founders@totemkb.com or booking a demo so we can work with you to import or export the data in whatever format works best for you. Your data is stored securely in AWS servers, encrypted at rest.

Can I control who sees what?

Totem is designed to give you both role-based and fine-grained control over who can see what. You can designate custom roles and assign workspace members to them, or invite external contributors to work on specific docs or databases without granting full workspace access. This granularity extends down to an individual database row or a property column.

What types of AI support and capability does Totem include?

Totem currently includes an MCP server, with basic tools available for document manipulation. An in-app agent is also available, though this functionality is currently experimental. Please discuss your needs with us so we can accommodate access to these features.

How is Totem priced? Can I try it out for free?

We prefer to work closely with teams as design partners, who get to use Totem free of charge for a period while we build together. Alternatively, self-serve is available at try.totemkb.com — download Totem for a free 14-day trial, then choose between two plans:

  • Totem Duo — for small teams of 2, at $15/month or $150/year
  • Totem Team — starting at 3 seats for $30/month or $300/year, with extra seats at $9/month or $90/year
